User Interface Designer

Job Description

As part of Solace, your main challenge will be to take projects from an initial idea and execute the design process end-to-end.
You will be working with a small team, all passionate about their crafts. You will be involved in the design process from building wireframes and prototypes, creating design systems, designing interfaces and ensuring quality control for design handoffs.

As a small design studio, this role will be dynamic and fast-paced. You will get to present your work to clients, work with other design leaders and refine your process.

You have:

• Preferably 3+ years of commercial experience
• An excellent portfolio demonstrating design thinking and execution
• A positive attitude and passion for design
• You have a strong understanding of typography, layout, colour, grid systems and advanced design principles.
• You’re a conceptual thinker who can translate customer needs and behaviours into project requirements
• Commercial experience working in design or software agencies across multiple projects
• Exceptional visual capabilities with attention to detail
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

The role:

• Build superb design systems with atomic design
• Communicate with clients throughout projects and present your design work
• Work in all four quadrants of the Double Diamond – discover, define, develop, deliver
• Build wireframes, screen flows and user journeys
• Participate in design research, user research and validation testing
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Produce forward-thinking visual designs that are unique and distinct to the client’s brand.
• Ensure final visual design concepts are on-brand and meet users needs
• Continuously iterate your designs to stay current with trends, or breakthrough them to define future ones.

Must-haves:

• English language fluency
• A passion for startups and early-stage businesses in product-market fit, launch and growth phases
